FAQ

Are your products ‘food safe’?

All stoneware and porcelain tableware (unless specified otherwise) is non-porous; lead-free; and durable.

Can your products go in the dishwasher?

Whilst all tableware can go in the dishwasher longevity will be improved by handwashing with a mild detergent.

Can your products go in the microwave?

Yes – as long as they contain a food or beverage. Repeated and prolonged use in a microwave will reduce longevity of life.

Do you use a renewable form of energy in your studio?

-       I use solar panels to provide approx.. 75% of energy. Long term I plan to install a battery for solar energy storage.

Do you recycle or reuse plastics that come into your studio?

-       Currently there is not a viable soft plastic recycling scheme in Ocean Grove. However I reuse all plastic bags that come into my studio and home throughout my making process.

-       All plastic containers are either reused or recycled.

Do you recycle clay and waste products?

-       Yes - all unfired clays are recycled back into the making process.

-       Other waste products are reclaimed and reused, or disposed of via appropriate council systems.

-       Any fired clays cannot be easily recycled back into the making process at the moment. However, I am investigating the use of fully fired and broken ceramics into a range of decorative mosaic tiles.

-       Any intact pottery pieces that cannot be sold directly to the public are either donated to a local opportunity shop or gratefully recycled to my local community via my nature strip.

Is your packaging environmentally friendly?

-       Yes all packaging can be either recycled or composted.

-       I reuse any packaging that comes into my home and studio.

-       The packing peanuts can go into your home compost as they are made of corn starch.

-       All labels are compostable.

-       ‘Heaps A Good Packaging’ provide the labels and the crinkly paper for packing around items.
